50/50 Women on Boards urges our vast network, and beyond, to walk together in support of the AAPI Community who should not have to stand alone.
Dear 50/50 Women on Boards Friends and Supporters:
All of us at 50/50 Women on Boards stand in solidarity with the Asian American Pacific Islander Community. We are united against all forms of violence and hate.
The gut-wrenching news, and the stories and conversations we’ve heard from our network, are a testament that vigorously advocating for allyship, diversity, and inclusion is not only a business imperative; it’s a human imperative.
By sharing stories about our Asian American sisters and brothers’ strengths and achievements, we can help diminish the racism, bias, and misconceptions that plague the AAPI Community.
Our 50/50 goal to achieve diverse, gender-balanced corporate boards seeks to elevate valuable and fair input by individuals of diverse race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. Valuing, supporting, and modeling diversity generates opportunities to challenge conventional perceptions, ignite creativity, and enrich conversations and connections.
But there is no easy road to get there, but we can start by calling for change.
- We advocate for allyship to ensure Asian Americans have the opportunities they deserve to advance.
- We recommend companies promote women from underrepresented communities to leadership positions from middle management on up to the C-suite.
- We urge corporations to be transparent by providing reliable diversity statistics and reporting at all levels, especially the leadership and board levels.
- We encourage our network and volunteers to share stories, resources, and services to reinforce positive action.
Let’s walk together in support of the AAPI Community who should not have to stand alone.
