Jennifer Siebel Newsom
California First Partner and Co-Founder — California Partners Project
Jennifer Siebel Newsom is the First Partner of California and a filmmaker and thought leader at the forefront of changing our society’s limiting gender norms and stereotypes. She wrote, directed, and produced three critically acclaimed documentaries on the subject “Miss Representation”, “The Mask You Live In”, and “The Great American Lie” and founded The Representation Project, a nonprofit that uses film and media to catalyze cultural transformation. Jennifer’s films have been seen by over 30 million people worldwide, and The Representation Project’s social action hashtag campaigns have reached more than 650 million people. Since becoming First Partner of California, Jennifer has championed various issues related to gender equity and raising healthy, whole children.
Anddria Clack-Rogers Varnado

Anddria Clack-Rogers Varnado is committed to enhancing the quality of lives and businesses through her work with next generation consumer brands – overseeing acquisitions, new brand and business developments, and critical business transformations. Anddria is the youngest Black public board director in the country, serving on the board of Umpqua Bank, where she is a member of the Finance and Capital Committee and Compensation Committee.
Anddria received a Master of Business Administration degree from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Clark Atlanta University. Her professional work and development insights have earned recognition in several publications, including Forbes, Architectural Digest, Black Enterprise, and The Everygirl.

Hannah-Beth Jackson
California State Senator
Senator Hannah-Beth Jackson is the author of Senate Bill 826, first-in-the-nation legislation requiring more women on corporate boards. A former prosecutor and practicing attorney, educator, and small business owner, Hannah-Beth was elected to the California State Senate in 2012 to represent the 19th Senate District, which includes all of Santa Barbara County and western Ventura County. Hannah-Beth graduated from Scripps College in Claremont with a joint major in government and sociology. She received her law degree from Boston University Law School before returning to California to work as a deputy district attorney for Santa Barbara County. During her time in the Legislature, Hannah-Beth has become known as a champion for women’s equality and an effective advocate for protecting the rights and privacy of Californians, protecting the environment, advancing legislation to reduce gun violence, and supporting access to justice for all Californians, among other issues. She served as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and she is past chair of the California Legislative Women’s Caucus. Hannah-Beth is married to retired Superior Court Judge George Eskin. She has a daughter, two stepchildren and six grandchildren. She and her family have resided in Santa Barbara for more than 35 years.
Alex Padilla
California Secretary of State
Alex Padilla is the California Secretary of State. He is focused on modernizing the office, increasing voter registration and participation, and strengthening voting rights. He sponsored legislation in 2015 to establish vote centers, expand early voting, and implement same-day conditional voter registration through the Voter’s Choice Act. In 2018, he launched the California Motor Voter program, which automatically registers eligible Californians to vote when they obtain or renew their state ID or driver’s license. The program registered one million new voters in its first year alone. Secretary Padilla oversaw the state’s historic General Election in 2018 where 64.5 percent of registered voters cast a ballot. This represented the highest turnout for a Gubernatorial Election since 1982. In February of 2020, California reached a record of more than 20.6 million registered voters. Previously, he served two terms in the San Fernando Valley in the California State Senate and represented the east San Fernando Valley on the Los Angeles City Council. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley, attended local public schools, and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Investment Officer — California State Teachers’ Retirement System
Mary Hartman Morris is an Investment Officer within the Sustainable, Investment and Stewardship Strategies unit for the California State Teachers’ Retirement System (CalSTRS). CalSTRS is the largest educator-only public pension fund in the world with a global investment portfolio valued at approximately $258 billion as of September 30, 2020. Mary has 18 years of investment experience and 18 years of technical accounting knowledge as a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Internal Auditor. She is responsible for working with a dedicated governance and sustainability team to further CalSTRS mission to secure the financial future/retirement benefits for California teachers. Ms. Morris’ core duties include portfolio company engagements, financial markets regulatory engagement and assisting in the management of CalSTRS $6 billion activist and sustainability manager portfolio.
Ricardo Lara
California Insurance Commissioner
Commissioner Ricardo Lara is California’s 8th Insurance Commissioner since voters created the elected position in 1988. As leader of the nation’s largest state consumer protection agency he will protect Californians’ futures. Raised in East Los Angeles by immigrant parents, Commissioner Lara made history in 2018 by becoming the first openly gay person elected to statewide office in California’s history. Commissioner Lara previously served in the California Legislature, representing Assembly District 50 from 2010 to 2012 and Senate District 33 from 2012 to 2018.
