Denise Wilson

Chief Executive — FTSE Women Leaders Review

Denise is Chief Executive of the Government sponsored Hampton-Alexander Review, formerly the Davies Review for Women on Boards, which leads the national, business-focused task force and voluntary framework for increasing the number of women on FTSE 350 Boards and in leadership positions. She has recently stepped down from the Board of Ecclesiastical Insurance Group where she served for eight years, chaired the Remuneration Committee and sat on the Audit Committee. She also chaired the Royal Academy of Arts Friends Board for many years and has served on several corporate and charitable boards. Her executive career began with the Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group, before moving into the energy sector where she held senior roles at British Gas and in successor companies, BG Group and Transco post-demerger. During this time she headed up the Investor Relations and Global Audit functions and at National Grid set up and ran the Shared Services Division, led Commercial, Pricing and Customer Divisions and the Global Transformation program to standardize systems, processes and workplace culture across UK and US operations. She has worked not only in the US but also South America in various energy industry roles. Denise is also a mentor to business leaders in the corporate and charitable sectors, an influential speaker and advocate for the advancement of diversity in business. She is a graduate in Modern Languages, qualified FCII and speaks fluent Spanish. Denise was awarded an OBE in the 2016 New Year’s Honours list for services to women and equality and an honorary Doctorate of Letters from the University of Hull in 2018.

Melody Meyer serves on the boards of BP, AbbVie and NOV, Inc. She is President of Melody Meyer Energy LLC in Houston, TX. Melody Meyer started her career in 1979 with Gulf Oil which later merged with Chevron Corporation, where she remained until her retirement in 2016. While with Chevron, Melody held several key leadership roles in global exploration and production lending her expertise in major capital projects, technology, R&D, strategic planning, merger integration and operational safety. Melody was the executive sponsor of Chevron’s Women’s Network where she continues to serve as a mentor and advocate for the advancement of women in the industry. Melody is a C200 member, and a celebrated executive recognized as a 2009 Trinity Distinguished Alumni, with the BioHouston Women in Science Award by Hart Energy as an Influential Woman in Energy in 2018, by Women Inc as 2018 Most Influential Corporate Board Directors, and Outstanding Director by 2020 Women on Boards. Currently, she serves on McKinsey Women in Energy Advisory Board and co-leads Women Corporate Directors in Houston.

Ms. Gates was President of MGA Entertainment, Inc. from 2014 until her retirement in 2017. Ms. Gates held roles of increasing responsibility with The Walt Disney Company from 1992-2012. Her roles included Executive Vice President, Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for Disney Consumer Products, and Senior Vice President of Operations, Planning, and Analysis. Prior to joining Disney, Ms. Gates worked for PepsiCo and Bear Stearns. Currently, Anne Gates is an active board director, spanning diverse industries. She is currently Chair of the Audit Committees at Kroger, Tapestry, Inc. and Cynosure (a Clayton, Dubilier & Rice owned company). She also serves on the Audit and Risk Committee at Raymond James Financial, the Public Responsibility Committee at Kroger and Governance and Nominations Committee at Tapestry, Inc. Anne Gates received her B.A. in Applied Mathematics from UC Berkeley and her M.S. Industrial Engineering and Operations Research and post-graduate work at Columbia University.

In her role as vice chairman, Ann represents Mastercard around the world, focusing on inclusion, diversity and innovation. She plays the important role of senior ambassador and executive leader with a global remit and serves on the company’s management committee. Prior to her appointment, Ann was president of International Markets responsible for the management of all customer-related activities in over 200 countries around the world. In this role, she focused on building sustainable, strong growth rates across both mature and emerging markets. Ann sits on the board of the Fortune 500 company Intercontinental Exchange (ICE) and is chair of ICE Clear Europe. A Pure Mathematics degree from Sheffield University and a M.Sc. with research into medical statistics from Newcastle University resulted in an early career as an award-winning research engineer, culminating as the Head of Offshore Engineer-Planning for British Gas where Ann was the first woman qualified to go offshore in Britain.

David currently chairs Domestic and General Ltd, The White Company Ltd and Imagr Holdings Ltd. David formerly chaired Hammerson plc (2013-2020), J. Sainsbury plc (2009-2019), Logica plc (2007-2012), 3i Quoted Private Equity plc (2007-09) and the Hampstead Theatre (2012-20). His executive career from 1974 to 2006 was at Unilever, NatWest Investment Bank, Christie’s and GUS. Following the GUS de-merger, he began a non-executive career in 2007 which – like his executive career – has been unusually broad in terms of sector, including consumer, retail, business services and financial services. He has sat on the Boards of Experian, Burberry and Reckitt Benckiser as well as chairing the eight companies noted above. He has been the Co-Chair of the Parker Review Committee since 2015 and was one of the founding chairs supporting the launch of the 30% Club. He was also one of the founding chairs involved with the set-up of Chapter Zero in 2019 focusing on the climate challenge. He has also served on the Investment Association’s Executive Remuneration Working Group. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and a member of the Association of Corporate Treasurers.
