Turning Data into Action

Turning Data into Action

Launched the Gender Diversity Index™—the first of its kind—to track women on public boards, introduced a company rating system to benchmark board equity, and held the first in-person event, National Conversation on Board Diversity, to spark national awareness.

2011

Mobilizing a Movement

On 12/12/12, hosted simultaneous events in key U.S. cities, including NY, Boston, and LA to establish a national network of allies and leaders accelerating gender balance and equity on corporate boards.

Reaching a Milestone

Women surpassed 20% of board seats in Fortune 1000 companies and states began proposing legislation to require and report board diversity.

Expanding Reach

Betsy Berkhemer-Credaire became CEO and launched the first educational program, Get on Board,
to help prepare women for board service and unlocks new leadership opportunities.

Advocated for California’s SB826 law, mandating women on boards, and met the 20% state goal across Russell 3000 companies — a year ahead of schedule.

Heather Spilsbury named Chief Marketing Officer, and the organization rebranded as 50/50 Women on Boards, setting a new vision: 50% women and 20% women of color on boards.
